==Controversy==

In the first issue of SPUR, the editors cited pervading "inferior quality student magazines" as their magazine's raison d'etre.〔http://spurmag.net/2012/11/19/issue-the-first-smarch-2012/〕 In an article in UniLife, it was revealed that the particular publication the editors were "dissatisfied" with was University of Adelaide union run magazine On Dit.〔http://unilifemagazine.com.au/headline/is-this-the-end-of-unilife-magazine/〕 On Dit has published at least one story about the rivalry, while also running editorial denying that a rivalry exists.〔http://issuu.com/adelaideuniversityunion/docs/on-dit-volume-80-issue-4〕
